Canonical Erection - 31 January 1990
The foresight of our Father Founder was marvellous indeed in regard to the future of his little congregation. In 1971 he established our house in a most convenient location in the Archdiocese of Bangalore for our formation and expansion. In his wisdom, he built a large three-storey building for us. In 1990 when our Province of Bangalore was erected this house became the provincialate.
The province was inaugurated on 11 February 1990, with Sisters of Mary Immaculate, 88 Benson Cross Road, Bangalore as the Provincial House. At that time it had 108 members living in 13 communities spread out in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Uttar Pradesh. Sr. Lisette Thuruthimattam was appointed as its first provincial superior for the term of six years.
However, after three years, at the general chapter of 1993, she was elected general councillor. The term of provincial councilors is three years.
